How the Seed was Planted
In July of 2020 I was laid off from my job in the construction industry, at the time I would see other people on Linkedin who were going through similar things, so while I waited to hear good news in an extremely nervous job market, I started offering to help people with their resumes and even recommending them to the same jobs that I was applying to hoping that atleast one of us would get the job.. About 2 months later, I got a new job, but I had built a reputation in my circle for being the go to resume editor. My family and friends began recommending people in their circle to me. Over the years, people have noted my passion for helping others on their journey to success, and I finally decided to turn helping others into a business.
The name Sunflower Services came about shortly after I decided I would make my hobby into a business. I was at home one day and my dad asked why I looked so down, I told him well the suns not out and he simply replied "what are you a flower? " and I replied " Yes, I'm a sunflower", and so the name Sunflower Services was born.
Allow me to introduce myself
My name is Tamera Flowers and I started out as a true Civil Engineer after graduating with my degree in Civil Engineering, I went to work in construction management. I later worked in structural design where I worked in bridge design and earned my E.I.T. While working in structural design I realized my passion did not lie in engineering design, I NEED PEOPLE and LOTS of them so I did just about the scariest thing I could think of at the time and pivoted my career into engineering sales. I fell in love with the thrill of business and decided to go back to school to earn my MBA.
Through all of these changes, one thing stayed consistent, my love for mentoring and helping people on their journey, celebrating the wins and encouraging in the losses. Thanks to my family, friends and coworkers I was finally able to realize my passion for helping people reach their full potential and thanks to my MBA I now have the information and confidence that I needed to turn my passion into a business.
